   According to the latest national cancer statistics released by the National Cancer Center, breast cancer is one of the most common malignant tumors among women, and its incidence rate ranks first among women's malignant tumors, seriously endangering women's physical and mental health.

IHC application in pathological diagnosis of breast:

Immunohistochemical detection is not only an important method for pathological diagnosis and differential diagnosis of breast, but also the main means for molecular typing and precise treatment marker detection of breast cancer.

Pathological diagnosis of most breast diseases can be completed only by careful observation of HE staining sections.

However, due to the complexity of tissue structure, the diversity of morphological variation and the overlapping of phenotypes, some benign hyperplasia and neoplastic lesions often cause diagnostic problems, resulting in over diagnosis or under diagnosis.   Immunohistochemical staining analysis of these cases that are difficult to diagnose with HE staining sections is a frequently selected auxiliary diagnostic means in daily work.

Application of IHC in pathological diagnosis of breast:

1.To confirm whether there is cancer cell infiltration in the stroma;

2.Differentiate between ductal and lobular tumors;

3.To differentiate common ductal/lobular hyperplasia from ductal/lobular carcinoma in situ;

4.Differentiate between pseudo-invasive lesions and invasive carcinomas;

5.To determine the characteristics of metastatic adenocarcinoma;

6.To determine the nature of spindle cell lesions;

7.Sentinel lymph-node status was assessed.

In addition, it can also detect and evaluate the status of proteins related to treatment and prognosis of breast cancer (such as ER, PR, Her-2/neu, Ki-67, etc.).

Diagnostic immunohistochemistry must be closely combined with histological images of HE, correct selection and use of markers (antibodies), and proper judgment and interpretation of staining results.
